$10,000 Reward Offered for ValueJet Mechanic

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Ociel Valenzuela-Reyes in conjunction with the 1996 ValueJet crash in the Florida Everglades. Valenzuela-Reyes worked for the airlines’ maintenance contractor, SabreTech, and is charged with mishandling the oxygen generators (loaded without safety caps) that ultimately lead to the cargo fire and subsequent crash of the aircraft.

The FBI wanted poster lists the following charges: Disobedience and Resistance to Lawful Order and Command of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida; Failure to Appear for Trial; Conspiracy to Make False Statements to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation; False statements to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation; Causing the Transport of Hazardous Materials.

Two other SabreTech employees faced criminal charges in the case but were eventually acquitted.

His ex-wife and children have lived in Atlanta, Georgia and he also has connections in Santiago, Chile where some of his family lives. Contact the FBI if you have information regarding the whereabouts of Valenzuela-Reyes.
