4 Charlie Bravo is selling a new jack for servicing nose tires and bearings on light aircraft, without wheel fairings. Business owner Chris Brooks says the jack allows for nose wheel maintenance to be performed by one person without a hoist or weights.
“The jack places the wheel nearly in position for installation,” Brooks said. “No holding the wheel with one hand while reaching for hardware.” Flat tires can be replaced if the tire can hold air long enough to position the jack. The lever slides aft, providing an unobstructed work area.
There are currently two versions available. The FK5 is used for aircraft that use a 5.00 x 5 nose wheel with 6″ spacing between the fork legs. The FK6 is used for aircraft that use a 6.00 x 6 nose wheel with 7″ spacing between the fork legs. They only work with aircraft with two-sided vertical forks like Cessna and Piper, without wheel fairings. If a tire is flat it will have to be aired up before the jack will go under it. Brooks adds it’s not compatible with oversized retread tires but is still working on adding to the list of applicable aircraft.
4 Charlie Bravo also offers an optional ramp plate. It’s not needed for smooth concrete hangar floors but is useful for rough surfaces like outdoor ramps. Find more information at www.4charliebravo.com.
