A330 Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing at Gatwick

According to a BBC report, an Airbus A330-300 operated by Virgin had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick and flights were suspended into that airport yesterday afternoon. The flight had recently departed and was enroute to Orlando, Fla., when smoke was noted in the cockpit and the pilot made the decision to return to the airport and land. Slides were deployed and passengers were evacuated from the aircraft. Several passengers suffered broken bones in the evacuation via the slides.
