Low cost carrier Allegiant Airlines was featured on a 60 Minutes television segment highlighting numerous engine-out events and other problems at the airline. Former NTSB Member John Goglia is interviewed in the piece and calls the events, documented and self-reported by Allegiant, “red flags”.
Safety culture was discussed as was the pilot who was fired after initiating an evacuation as a result of smoke in the cabin. He has filed a wrongful termination suit against the airline.
