FL Technics Ulyanovsk, a subsidiary of the international aviation service provider Avia Solutions Group, has officially launched the construction of the new aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul centre at the Port Special Economic Zone (PSEZ) in Ulyanovsk, Russia. FL Technics Ulyanovsk is the first resident company at the PSEZ to begin the construction of a major infrastructural project in the Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airport.
The FL Technics Ulyanovsk project is currently underway and the company has planned the construction of the two brand new aircraft maintenance hangars (8000 sq. m. each) for servicing both narrow and wide body aircraft, including Airbus A320, Boeing 737 Classic, Boeing 737NG, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Bombardier CRJ 200, Sukhoi Superjet 100, as well as Boeing 747 and Airbus A380.
The new $22 million facility will feature a designated 3000 sq.m. aircraft parking platform and the first hangar is expected to open its door for the customers in the beginning of 2015. The company is planning to establish up to 500 new workplaces for technical specialists at the facility.
The new FL Technics technical base in Ulyanovsk will provide various MRO services, including A- to D-checks, engine and landing gear replacement, avionics and airframe modifications, flight hours inspection, structure maintenance, component maintenance and interior design-related services.
“Currently more than 50 percent of all non-Russian manufactured aircraft, operated by the Russian carriers, are being serviced outside the country thus local airlines end up incurring significant additional costs. The company FL Technics Ulyanovsk received the ‘Ulyanovsk-Vostochny’ resident certificate in 2011. Ulyanovsk POEZ provides full exemption from property, land and transport taxes, as well as income tax concessions. The zone also grants its resident companies the exemption from equipment, raw materials, parts, construction articles and other import duties. The tax concessions are provided for the period of five to 10 years.
The construction of the MRO center in Ulyanovsk is the third project conducted by Avia Solutions Group of the kind. In 2006 the company successfully finished the construction of an MRO hangar at Vilnius International Airport, Lithuania thus expanding the total aggregate of FL Technics fully owned and equipped aircraft maintenance facilities to 13700 sq. m.
In 2013 the company is planning to launch the construction of a new 8000 sq. m. FL Technics hangar at Kaunas International Airport, Lithuania. The new center will provide MRO services for various narrow and wide body aircraft, including Boeing 747, as well as offer a wide range of aircraft parts and components MRO solutions.
