Zhang Jianhai, a mechanic for a Chinese airline for ten years is becoming known for his TikTok video English lessons. He has gained 50,000 follows since he posted his first video on the platform known in China as Douyin (but known in the U. S. as TikTok). His account is called “grassroots mechanic” and he has been posting since August.
In a story in the Shanghai Daily, Zhang says he began the account to improve his own English. Then began assisting other Chinese mechanics with improving their English. Now he also prides himself on sharing the work of aircraft maintenance with his many followers.
