Delta TechOps Contribute 1,100 Bikes to Marine Toys for Tots

Delta TechOps in Atlanta, Georgia hosted a celebration with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation on Dec. 12 to present 1,175 bikes that were donated and assembled by TechOps employees, along with a check for $50,000 from Delta Air Lines. In addition to the bike donations, TechOps employees donated more than 15,000 toys to provide a brighter holiday for kids in the local Atlanta area this holiday season and raised more than $60,000 to purchase the bikes.

More than 50 shops and hundreds of employees helped build the record number of bikes this year, which were displayed in the shape of a bicycle complete with Delta widgets in the tire spokes at the event.  TechOps holds fundraisers throughout the year to purchase the bikes they build and donate to Toys for Tots.

“Working at TechOps is not just a job for our employees, it’s about making a difference.  Our culture at Delta is so unique that it allows us to do things that other companies could never do, and if you look at how we care for our customers, our communities and each other, it is unprecedented,” said Don Mitacek, senior vice president — TechOps.

“On behalf of the millions of less fortunate children who will experience the joy of Christmas and receive a message of hope that might not otherwise be there, thank you Delta for all you do,” said Retired Lieutenant General Pete Osman, president and CEO of Toys for Tots, who was on hand to accept the donations along with MSgt Carlos Pereira and Sgt Jullian Johnson from Atlanta Toys for Tots.

Delta says it contributes $725,000 annually to Toys for Tots, and Toys for Tots toy drives are held in several locations throughout their network.
