Fatality Occurs While Workers Repair Jet Bridge Tire

A maintenance worker died Tuesday evening, February 19 when the jet bridge tire he was working on exploded, according to reports. The incident occurred at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California.

“The incident happened in a workshop near Gate 3 at the airport at about 11:30 p.m. as two people were repairing the giant tire” used to position the jet bridge (a walkway that connects the terminal to the plane). One worker was killed and the other did not need medical attention.

The person who died has not been identified. The two workers were contractors for a company called JBT.
