Kaman Memory Announces Model 9740 Complete Data Storage System

The Memory Division of Kaman Precision Products, Inc. has announced its product, Model 9740 Complete Data Storage Solution, for use in severe environments. These applications include military settings such as fighter aircraft, as well as other aerospace and industrial settings.

As a complete data storage solution, the Model 9740 includes an electronics module, a ground station adapter with encryption key enabled, and encryption key programmer. The Model 9740 features the new Kaman SATA card, with a unique ruggedized design, small form factor, high memory density, and on-card encryption providing data-at-rest functionality. The Kaman SATA card is hermetically sealed to enable it to withstand even the most severe military environments.

Four 10/100/ 1000 Mb Ethernet channels provide high speed data transfers, NAS functions such as NFS, FTP, TFTP, and DHCP Server protocols, and TCP/IP and UDP transport layer protocols. The system’s throughput rate of 50 megabytes per second sustained leads the industry.

Heat ladders within the Model 9740 ensure that the device can withstand temperatures from -40˚C to 71˚C, a wider range than competing products. It has a superior mechanical design that enables it to withstand harsh conditions, with a vibration endurance rating of 3.89 GRMS and a crash safety shock rating of 30G peak. The Model 9740 is compliant with MIL-STD-810 for altitude, humidity, sand and dust, salt spray, and explosive atmosphere and with MIL-STD-461f for EMI/EMC.

The system requires low power, with a 22-watt maximum at an input of 28 volts. It supports sanitize algorithms including support for NAVSO 5239-26, NSA 9-12, AFSIS 5020, and DOD 5220.22-M. The unit is available with up to 2 TB of total storage capacity.
