LAN Airlines Selects CF6 Engines to Power Its Boeing 767 Aircraft

LAN Airlines has selected GE’s CF6-80C2 engines to power its 14 firm Boeing 767 aircraft with option for an additional four aircraft. The firm engine order is valued at more than $400 million (USD) list price. Deliveries will begin later this year. “LAN Airlines currently operates 40 CF6-powered Boeing 767 aircraft,” said Kevin McAllister, vice president and general manager of Global Sales at GE Aviation. “We are proud of partnering with GE again for powering our 767s. We have been operating this fleet for more than 12 years and the CF6 has proven to be a very efficient and extremely reliable engine. This investment will further enhance LAN’s 767 family aircraft, reinforces our commitment to our passengers, and supports our program of fleet renewal and expansion, designed to allow us to operate the world’s most modern and safest aircraft and to achieve savings on fuel and maintenance,” said Ignacio Cueto, COO & president of LAN Airlines.
