navAero Achieves EASA ERJ 135/145 STC for tBag C2-2 Electronic Flight Bag System

navAero announces the issuance of Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) 10047152 by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) that allows for the installation of provision of the tBag C2-2 Class 2 Electronic Flight Bag system for Embraer ERJ 135 and 145 series aircraft.

Executed by navAero in cooperation with Aero Vodochody Aerospace A.S., this certification is another of the highly integrated STCs for the navAero tBagC2-2 Class 2 EFB system. The system architecture in the EASA STC includes the navAero-designed UMTS/HSDPA 3G cellular modem and 802.11b/g WiFi module for on-ground data transfer. Also included in the certification is the navAero Universal Aircraft Interface Device (UAID) that enables certified connectivity of the EFB system to aircraft data buses. The EFB CPUs are deployed with cross-connectivity to provide data sharing between the two independent systems. The STC also provides several different display options including the tPad 1500 and tPad 2000 to provide customers with maximum flexibility in selecting the optimum viewing platform to meet their specific requirements and needs.

navAero Group President, Mr. Simone Giordano, states “This certification is another of our highly complex integrated certifications for our Class 2 EFB systems. Our customer Luxair is the first to utilize this STC which will allow them to deploy their ERJ 145 fleet with the same technology that is operational on their B737-700 and Q400 fleets and thereby complete the fleet-wide deployment phase of their EFB initiative.”

Giordano continued: “With the connectivity options we have provided in this STC, we are providing operators with the ability to deploy a highly customized and robust technical EFB solution that will meet a wide range of specific needs and requirements especially in regard to data connectivity. And the adoption of our new UAID opens a new wide range of applications integration with specific reference to A717 FOQA that enables VQAR as well as a multitude of data that is useful for a wide range of log applications.
