Racecar Driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in Plane Crash in Tennessee

Race car driver and television commentator, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and his wife were involved in a small jet plane crash today, August 15, 2019, at Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee. The FAA confirmed that a Cessna Citation rolled off the end of the runway and caught fire after landing. The FAA confirmed that two pilots and three passengers were aboard.

Everyone is reportedly OK and all were outside the aircraft when the fire department arrived. The airport was closed to deal with the fuel spill, fire and for investigation purposes. Earnhardt’s sister tweeted the following: “I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding.” Earnhardt Jr. was taken to a local hospital Carter County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Thomas Gray confirmed.
