In France, Satys Aerospace continues to develop at a sustained pace, thanks to the growth in production by aircraft manufacturers Airbus, Dassault and ATR, as well as the activity of airlines.
By 2024, Satys will have painted one hundred and fifty Airbus and ATR aircraft in its Blagnac facility, a figure which will rise to two hundred and ten aircraft by 2026. To meet the growing demand for painting and repainting in the wide-body segment, Satys will be expanding its Châteauroux capacity at a cost of €15 million. With the support of the Centre Val de Loire region, the Châteauroux base will now be able to
handle more than 50 wide-body aircraft a year, making it Europe’s second-largest Airbus wide-body paint shop, and the leading site for repainting. “We need to support the ambitions of our partners, aircraft manufacturers and airlines, in the regions where they are based, explains Managing Director Grégory Mayeur, “To support our development in France, we have recently signed several cooperation
agreements with vocational high schools/apprenticeship centers to train young people in our professions.”
In the US, Satys will commission six new paint hangars in the states of Delaware, North Carolina and Florida. Since 2023, Satys has trained over 500 aeronautical painters and sealers in France and abroad.
By 2026, the company plans to recruit two hundred people in France. The Group also intends to step up its international expansion. Already present in six countries in Europe, Morocco, the United States, Singapore and China, Satys will open a new hangar in January 2025 in the United Arab Emirates, in the Dubai Al Maktoum airport business park. Satys has also signed technical support contracts in
this area.
In the United States, where the group aims to become a key player, Satys will commission six new paint hangars in the states of Delaware, North Carolina and Florida by 2025, to serve the needs of aircraft manufacturers and maintenance centers.
On the surface treatment market, its other recent area of expertise, Satys, which operates four plants in France and Hungary, is also pursuing its development with a focus on delivering on time and reducing cycle times. “Our high level of technical expertise enables us to engage in innovative industrial processes, such as Anaphoresis, which we will be deploying in 2025, notes Grégory Mayeur. The use of
this technology for the treatment of the critical and complex aeronautical parts entrusted to us will give Satys a major competitive edge, thanks to a reduction in treatment cycles of the order of 50%.” This innovation is part of the decarbonization approach to which Satys is strongly committed, as demonstrated by the 30% reduction in the Group’s energy consumption over the last two years. Faced with this technological and environmental shift, Satys has decided to rename its surface treatment activities in 2025 under the common label “Satys Coatings”, whose sales for all surface treatment perimeters should reach €40m in 2026.
“In 2024, Satys consolidated its position as a major player in aircraft painting, sealing and surface treatment,” said Christophe Cador, chairman and founder of the group. “We owe this performance to our industrial focus, our ability to deliver on time and the exceptional commitment of our teams around the world, all of which I would like to salute warmly. We’ve also achieved our capacity and ramp-up
targets, but we remain extremely vigilant in this area. Growth for growth’s sake is not our priority, but the day-to-day satisfaction of our customers and the restoration of our ability to invest remain our top priority.”
