Shot Peening Workshop to be held in Goslar, Germany on September 24 – 26, 2012

Electronics Inc. Education Division and the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering of Clausthal University of Technology are conducting a Shot Peening Workshop in Goslar, Germany on September 24 – 26, 2012. The event will be held at the Hotel Niedersächsischer Hof.

The first two days of the workshop will cover every aspect of a controlled shot peening procedure including process control, media, equipment, equipment maintenance, evaluation and measurement of the process. In addition, roto-flapper peening training will be presented. Students will also have the opportunity to earn shot peening certification by passing Level I, II and III Shot Peening and Roto-Flap Peening exams.

On September 26, Dr. Lothar Wagner of Clausthal University of Technology will provide hands-on shot peening training in the university’s shot peening laboratory. Holger Polanetzki, an Engineer of Metallurgy and a Designated Process Specialist Shot Peening/Grit Blast and GE Certifying Agent Shot Peening at MTU Aero Engines, will also be a featured presenter at the workshop.

Anyone who works in the shot peening industry can benefit from this comprehensive workshop, but the program is ideal for aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities. The workshop courses are recognized by the FAA: Mechanics qualified under FAA rules to perform inspections may receive credit for obtaining workshop Certificates of Achievement. Additionally, the roto-flap peening classes and exam are of special benefit to shot peening operators in the aerospace industry.

The cost of the workshop is 1000 EUR per person and includes admission to three days of lectures, a comprehensive workbook, break refreshments and lunches. Group discounts are available and the hotel is providing discounted room rates for attendees. Electronics Inc. will also offer Level I, II and III Shot Peening and Roto-Flap Peening Exams for qualified students for a fee of 100 EUR each.
