Wilmington Air Park officials have confirmed that Air Transport International, Inc. (ATI) , a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG), expects to move as many as 80 airline maintenance and flight operations positions from other states to the Wilmington Air Park.
“We are pleased to see ATI join the Wilmington Air Park community. The consolidation of ATSG operations is a win-win for both the company and the community,” said Kevin Carver, Executive Director of the Wilmington Air Park.
ATI specializes in transporting cargo worldwide. The company’s cargo services include freight forwarding/charter brokerage, government and military contracts, long-term contract services to other airlines and logistics organizations, and high-value animal transportation.
Air Transport Services Group, Inc. provides air cargo transportation and related services to domestic and foreign air carriers and other companies that outsource their air cargo lift requirements. ATSG and its subsidiaries currently employ more than 800 individuals at its headquarters in the Wilmington Air Park.
In January, Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services, another subsidiary of ATSG, began construction of a 100,000-sq-ft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hangar. The project represents a 50 percent expansion in MRO hangar capacity. This expansion is anticipated to create 259 new jobs.
“The addition of these jobs is just a couple examples of growing employment at the Air Park. In 2012, Cargill leased 7,500- sq.-ft. of office space and brought 16 professional positions to the Air Park. JMCC Engineering and Training Services is doubling their space and also adding employees,” said Kevin Carver. “2013 looks promising. We have seen a marked increase in proposal requests from potential tenants.”
