C&L Aviation Group is in the final stages of STC development which solves obsolesce issues with the Universal UNS-1K FMS (Flight Management System). The solution upgrades Embraer ERJ 135/145 aircraft currently utilizing the aging UNS-1K to single or dual UNS-1Lw. This STC also provides a pathway to LPV capabilities such as WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System).
“There are currently no other solutions in the marketplace, making this an incredibly useful program for operators,” said Charlie Carroll, avionics sales manager for C&L Aviation Group. “We’re excited to offer this solution to our customers, furthering our commitment to their needs and the ERJ 135/145 aircraft.”
The STC will be FAA/EASA validated and C&L expect to begin installations on June 1st.
In 2020 C&L hosted a webinar addressing issues related to, and upgrade solutions available for operators who will be affected by Universal’s announcement which outlined they would be discontinuing repair on UNS 1C, 1C+, 1Csp, 1Csp+, 1D, 1D+, 1K, and 1K+ Flight Management Systems due to parts obsolescence. This STC is the next step in providing solutions for operators concerned about the obsolescence, and associated costs.
“This STC is the beginning of a more comprehensive upgrade package that we have planned for this platform.” said Carroll. “We continue to be a one-stop solution for Embraer operators for heavy maintenance, parts, interior modifications and upgrades, paint, and major avionics upgrades like this.”
