Airbus announced a 10 aircraft order cancellation in a monthly order briefing late last week. In conjunction the manufacturer announced a similar 10 aircraft order from an airline. Later sources revealed the order, worth $3 billion, was placed by Delta.
A Reuters report says this move “firms up a planned switch first announced when the two carriers forged their alliance in 2019 and whose completion was partially disclosed in manufacturing data issued last week.” This deal comes amid the ravages of the travel restrictions during the coronavirus crisis, the $5.4 billion they are expected to receive from U. S. government payroll support and encouraging workers to take voluntary unpaid leaves of absence.
