Täby Air Maintenance (TAM) will convert two of Scottish airline Loganair’s Saab 340B’s to cargo configuration and follows a previous conversion of two Saab 340As.
TAM states that it is the only company worldwide that has been approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) to perform a full cargo conversion of Saab 340A and Saab 340B.
The first aircraft, G-LGNM, is already at TAM’s Örebro workshops, scheduled for delivery in mid-January 2017, with the second aircraft, G-LGNN, being delivered to TAM in early February.
Pär Gulle, TAM managing director said of the additional order: “Earlier this year we got a dual EASA-FAA approval for our high-end Saab 340A and Saab 340B cargo conversion program, providing a highly cost effective way to convert this well-renowned, fuel efficient passenger aircraft into a profitable freighter capable of carrying 36 m3 (1,280 cu ft) of cargo.”
