AFI KLM E&M will support Xiamen Airlines’ GEnx-1B74/75 engines on its fleet of Boeing 787-9s Dreamliners. The contract will cover shop visits and the maintenance and spare engine access to guarantee the availability of Xiamen Airlines ‘787-9’ fleet. Xiamen Airlines took delivery of its first 787-9 on 8 December 2016; it will eventually have six of the type.
AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines have worked together for many years on CFM56-7B and GEnx engine support and 787-8 component support.
Cai Chengbao, Xiamen Airlines executive vice president, stated that “the quality of the relationship that has grown up in recent years between our two Groups. Around the ideas of trust and partnership, AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines have forged solid ties, which are now being strengthened with the signing of the latest agreement.”
Executive vice president Air France KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Anne Brachet said: “Such a deal with a major 787 fleet operator proves once again AFI KLM E&M’s unique expertise and competitiveness regarding new-generation aircraft maintenance.”
