With less than 100 days until the Avtrade sponsored team of bold adventurers set off from Avtrade’s headquarters for Mongolia as a part of the Go Help 2017 Mongolia Charity Rally, the team have been busily preparing. The crew of four Avtrade staff will be driving to Ulaanbaatar; over 10,000 miles across two continents, via Avtrade’s recently opened Guangzhou office in China.
Preparations for the trip have been wide-ranging, including a weekend training trip driving 2,500 through Europe, and extensive modifications have been made to the Ford Transit which will transport the crew. They have also participated in Hostile Environment Awareness Training.
With sponsors including; Avtrade, MidAmerican Aerospace, A.I.R.S, Aerozone and Safe Fuel the wider aviation community have rallied around the team. Currently the Mission Mongolia project has raised over £6,000 for its three supported charities; Go Help who aim to provide access to education and healthcare throughout Central Asia; West Sussex based children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House; and British mental health charity Mind. The projects fundraising campaign continues right up to the set off date in July, and welcomes any donations through its dedicated Just Giving account.
