The Board of Directors of the Airline Avionics Institute (AAI) has elected Walter W. Roney II to succeed Phil Wright as its business manager. This change will take place on 1 January 2012. Roney brings more than thirty-five years of airline customer support and business development experience to this position through his years with Hamilton Sundstrand, Cessna Aircraft, and most recently with BAE Systems-Platform Solutions. Mr. Roney is also an 8-year member of AAI’s Board of Directors, currently serving as its vice president. Roney was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and grew up as he says at the American Airlines’ maintenance base where his father Emerson H. Roney was vice president of Maintenance and Engineering. This was the beginning of a life long passion for aviation and the airline industry. He is a licensed pilot and currently flies a 1948 Stinson Station Wagon for pleasure.
