Honeywell Aerospace leadership and other representatives attended the certification ceremony for the Y-12F turboprop utility aircraft, developed by AVIC Harbin Aircraft Industry (HAIG). Honeywell provides the complete integrated avionics system for the 19-seat Y-12F aircraft. The ceremony marked the milestone of the Y-12F receiving Type Certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
“Honeywell is committed to working with HAIG and other local Chinese organizations to advance China’s aerospace industry,” said Briand Greer, president, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Aerospace. “The certification of the Y-12F marks an important milestone for China’s aviation manufacturing industry, as this is the first use of a state-of-art fully integrated avionics system in a Chinese-developed and manufactured aircraft. Honeywell is extremely pleased to be part of this success story and we’re proud of our long relationship with HAIG.”
Primus Apex, Honeywell’s fully integrated cockpit avionics system, provides pilots with an unparalleled view of weather, traffic and terrain for superior situational awareness in today’s continuously changing airspace environment. The fully automated controls ensure more efficient flight deck operations and improved safety for operators. Primus Apex also provides the flexibility to meet the current and future needs of the Y-12F.
“We value Honeywell’s support of the Y-12F’s certification and look forward to continuing to work closely with them,” said Li Xianzhe, deputy chief engineer, HAIG. “Honeywell is an industry leader in integrated avionics systems, with proven designs that are highly reliable, along with excellent technical support.”
The Y-12F is a light general aircraft for regional use with a spacious cabin that can accommodate 19 passengers or three LD3 cargo containers. It has a high cruising speed and long-range capabilities that can be used for passenger transport, maritime surveillance, airdrop of supplies, aerial telemetry and photography, geological prospecting, medical aid and rescue, and artificial rainfall. HAIG has received nearly 50 confirmed or intent orders for the Y-12F from a number of domestic and international customers including the Las Vegas-based Coptervision, AVIC International Holding Corporation, and China Flying Dragon General Aviation Co. Ltd.
Primus Apex is Honeywell’s integrated avionics platform for turboprop and light business jet applications. It is the first Part 23 avionics system to offer flight management functions meeting FAA Technical Standard Order C153 requirements. In addition to the Y-12F, Primus Apex equips other aircraft, including the Pilatus PC-12NG, Pilatus PC-24, SyberJet SJ30 and Viking Twin Otter Series 400.
