Monarch Aircraft Engineering Technical Training Academy (MAETTA) is to commence Boeing 787 training this year; investing $2.5m on state-of-the-art desktop training equipment. Based at London Luton Airport, the technical training academy will undergo a complete refurbishment providing several new classrooms and facilities for Composite and Fibre optic training, a technology that is now being employed on next generation aircraft.
“We have been working on this project for a number of years and I am delighted to see this vision come to fruition. Monarch will be one of only five Boeing 787 training providers worldwide and the first outside of Boeing,” Mick Adams, Managing Director said. “This investment into new technology training facilities is a natural progression for the business, where we are a leading MRO and we intend on maintaining this position. The Boeing 787 aircraft is a superb product — and we will support this product in service as a leading MRO. To have the Composites and Fiber optic training capability under the same roof makes absolute sense and means we can provide a full training solution to our third party customers and our own engineers.”
MAETTA has facilities at its Luton and Manchester bases and provides training on several aircraft types. Boeing 787 full B1 and B2 will commence from October 2012. Composite and Fiber optic courses will commence January 2013.
